"Untitled: Artist and Model", signed lower right, mixed media on paper including watercolour and gouache, sight 34.3 x 45.1cm (13 1/2 x 17 3/4in); Provenance: from a private Ontario collection, the owner's acquired this work directly from the artist and a photograph of Menkes working in his studio is also included; Sigmund (Zygmunt) Menkes, Polish, 1896-1986, a member of the School of Paris during the 1920s-1930s, emigrated to the United States in 1935 where he remained active for the rest of his career; Menkes works are in prominent collections worldwide including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Jewish Museum in New York and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art
